About Permaculture
Permaculture is a sustainable design framework which advocates three overarching ethics: Earth care, People Care, and Fair Share (return of surplus to earth and people)
- It comprises 12 design principles – the petals of the so-called ‘permaculture flower’. Combine these to foster responsible cultivation, production and consumption through a whole-systems approach.
This design framework is being applied in a range of different contexts:
- To support and inspire more sustainable lifestyles
- To improve learning and mental health
- To sanitize consumption
- To design liveable, humane social systems
- Educational projects to support sustainability learning and active learning in communities of practice
