Join us as Silje Erøy Sollien explores the interplay of architecture, composting, and sustainability in this engaging talk on February 26, 13.00-14.15.
Composting in the city can be a collaborative regenerative practice, where humans and soil beings experience taking care of each other and feel each other’s warmth. Urban composting is often awkward, as many of us live in restricted indoor spaces and don’t have direct access to working with soil outside. Bokashi composting can be a complete indoor soil ecosystem, suitable for apartments and indoor life. During the session at CBS we will learn about urban composting in general and observe the soil bacteria working with the bokashi breakdown in a small 30L soil factory. We will measure how hot the bokashi soil factory becomes and hopefully share the experience of the soil warming us, while learning a bit about the philosophy and aesthetics of composting.
Silje Erøy Sollien is an architect, Ph.D, working at the intersection between art, permaculture and urban design research, learning from plants, bacteria and mycelium.
