Permahaven at LSE–Cambridge Behavioural Public Policy Workshop

aldi.msc@cbs.dk · 13/08/2025 ·

We are thrilled to share that Permahaven was featured at the LSE–Cambridge International Behavioural Public Policy Workshop, a leading annual event co-organized by the International Behavioural Public Policy Association (IBPPA), the London School of Economics, and the University of Cambridge.

Research Highlight: Cultivating Engagement through Identity Framing

The research, by Albina Dioba (CBS) in collaboration with Kennet Christian Uggeldahl (UCPH) and Isabel Fróes (CBS), explored how identity framing can influence young people’s engagement in collective urban gardening. Our experimental field trial at Permahaven, CBS’s permaculture garden, investigated how different identity-based messaging can nudge students toward pro-environmental action.

Key finding:
Students exposed to peer-group social identity framing were 14.5% more likely to engage compared to the control group (p = 0.022).
Environmental framing showed no significant effect in this setting.

These findings support growing evidence that Gen Z responds more strongly to peer-based appeals than purely environmental ones, especially when it comes to collective, hands-on initiatives like urban gardening.

Why This Matters

By applying behavioural science in real-world contexts like Permahaven, we aim to co-create policy-relevant insights that support meaningful and inclusive sustainability transitions. This work aligns with Permahaven’s mission to:

  • Integrate head-hands-heart learning into higher education,
  • Foster regenerative sustainability practices,
  • Empower youth through community-centred climate action.

Permahaven Featured in Leading Journal!

aldi.msc@cbs.dk · 14/05/2025 ·

We’re thrilled to share that Permahaven has been featured in the Book and Resource Review section of the Academy of Management Learning and Education (AMLE) journal!
👉 Read it here

In Tilling the Ethical Soil of Management Learning (Burns, 2025), our beloved permaculture garden at Copenhagen Business School is highlighted as an inspiring example of how ethical awareness can be cultivated – quite literally! Just like tending soil, nurturing ethical thinking in management education requires care, intention, and integration into everyday practice.

The article beautifully connects permaculture principles with the development of ethical, sustainable, and socially conscious leadership. It’s a powerful reminder that ethics shouldn’t just be taught—they should be grown from the ground up.

🌱 At Permahaven, we believe that the seeds we plant today, both in gardens and in minds, can lead to more just, resilient, and responsible futures.

✨ How is your organization cultivating ethical learning?

We’d love to connect, exchange ideas, and grow something meaningful together. Get in touch!

CBS Permahaven Featured at Aurora International Peace Conference

aldi.msc@cbs.dk · 19/02/2025 ·

We are thrilled to share that CBS Permahaven will be featured at the Aurora International Peace Conference:“The Role of Higher Education in Peacebuilding”,17 – 21 February 2025, Universität Innsbruck

Our presentation “Community Urban Gardens: Spaces for Sustainability Education and Peacebuilding,” Albina Dioba, Maribel Blasco, and Isabel Fróes is delivered by Albina Dioba.

🌱 Community urban gardens, such as CBS Permahaven, serve as living laboratories where education extends beyond the classroom – engaging the body, emotions, and well-being alongside intellectual learning. In a world facing deep socio-political challenges, these spaces foster resilience, inclusion, and peacebuilding by connecting people through shared sustainable practices.

Now more than ever, higher education must break traditional boundaries and integrate holistic approaches to learning that address real-world challenges. CBS Permahaven is proud to be part of this essential conversation.

Visit from Aurora Universities Delegation at Permahaven!

aldi.msc@cbs.dk · 14/10/2024 ·

On October 11, we had the pleasure of hosting a wonderful delegation from Karazin University, Ukraine, as part of the Aurora Universities Network staff exchange program. It was a fantastic day filled with inspiring discussions and hands-on experiences as we introduced them to the core principles of Permahaven.

The visit allowed us to share our vision of sustainability, permaculture, and community-driven solutions, sparking fresh ideas and perspectives on how these concepts can be integrated into their work and the broader Aurora network. We were thrilled to see their enthusiasm and look forward to strengthening collaborations within the Aurora Universities Network!
